“Mama Demands Liberty”
As the mother of a queer son, I know with certainty that every member of the LGBTQIA+ Community deserves the Liberty to live their lives fully; the same as any other American Citizen. I chose the image of the Statue of Liberty as she is an easily recognized symbol of Liberty for Americans. My interpretation of her embodies a fierce Mama bear holding her cub who is swaddled in the colors of the pride flag. She is standing with conviction for her baby cub to have a life of Liberty. Her flame is a beacon to all in the LGBTQIA+ Community to live the promise of Liberty for all Americans.
